I'm Lan.
LANTINE comes from Lanting — the Orchid Pavilion, where in 353 AD forty-two scholars sat by a stream and wrote about how short life is.
I'm not doing anything like that. But I liked what they were doing: looking up at something very large, and using it to work out where they stood.
That's what a birth date is, really. A fixed point you can measure from.

THE MAKING
Twenty a day. That's all my hands can do.
Every box is sealed with wax and stamped before it leaves my desk in Guangzhou. I write the name on the card myself. It is slow, and it is the part I won't hand to anyone else.
01. Guangzhou. Stones sourced at the market in Liwan, checked with a loupe and a UV torch before anything is strung.
02. Three days. Each piece rests on white quartz before it's wrapped. You'll never see those days, but they happen.
03. Sealed by hand. Wax, then my stamp. If the edge is uneven, that's because a hand did it.
